Pasadena Cartoon and Anime Society

Somehow we've ended up a bit ahead of schedule. Part of it is that we needed to guess at lengths for simulcast series and it turns out that e.g. The Ghost in the Shell is only 10 episodes rather than 13, which means we'll finish it next week. We've also bailed on a sampler here and there. That's good news - we'll actually be able to watch the movie Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle 1 during the season (albeit split over 2 weeks; I've found a couple decent breakpoints).

Anime Limited's Back to School sale runs through September 14 (though presumably it ends around midnight UK time, so figure that means it's over mid-Sunday afternoon). Still lots of opportunity to get things at good discounts, like The Promised Neverland season 1 for something like 90% off the Aniplex price. I placed an order and was reminded that shipping appears to be a flat £25.

Events this week:

• Crunchyroll has the 4K remaster of Akira in theaters through at least Thursday September 17; at this point there aren't any more IMAX screenings locally. I might still try to get a group to see it theatrically on Sunday.
• Wile E. Coyote keeps trying to rocket skate uphill as Coyote vs. Acme enters its 2nd week in theaters, running through at least Sunday, September 20. Several of us saw it and can confirm: yes, it's good.
• Upcoming: the original Ghost in the Shell movie will have a 4K IMAX theatrical run Friday, September 18 - Wednesday, September 23. We can see who's interested in checking that out right after we finish the current series next weekend.
