Pasadena Cartoon and Anime Society

As of this week, we've fully eased into our schedule for the back half of our Summer season, with Fridays sporting 3 timeslots of samplers before intermission, and on Saturdays we're resuming Dirty Pair and transitioning to Dorohedoro season 2. Although our Saturday schedule is still a bit unusual this week: we have to fit in 3 episodes of Dorohedoro, so we're watching our one sampler after the break. That leaves us with both Dirty Pair and The Ghost in the Shell before the break, what the advertiser voice in my brain describes as "a double dose of lethal ladies from the 80s".

Events this week:

• GKids brings The Last Blossom (an original anime film from the creators of Odd Taxi) to theaters on Sunday August 30 at 4 PM and Monday August 31 at 7 PM.
• On the cartoon side of things, the film that David Zaslav's Warner tried to bury - OK, OK - one of the films they tried to bury, Coyote vs. Acme will be in lots of theaters through at least Thursday, September 3.
• Next Friday, September 4 - the beginning of Labor Day weekend - GKids will have the anime movie Cocoon in theaters, and Crunchyroll will have Akira in a 4K re-release in theaters, some of them in IMAX.
