We're a mostly-anime club that usually meets in the Pasadena area Friday and Saturday evenings. Currently we're doing hybrid showings, both in-person for fully COVID-vaccinated folks at members' homes, and online via our Discord server. Our showings usually run 6:30 - 10:30 Pacific Time.
Not much news this week. I mean, this is Labor Day weekend; our schedule has stabilized for the rest of the season; folks who couldn't make it out to see anime film The Last Blossom may get a second chance because GKids screwed up the audio sync on the subtitles (they were showing up around 10 seconds early from what I've heard) so they're considering up additional showings. Not much else.
Oh, I guess Anime Limited is having some sort of limited-time clearance sales right now so if you want to get e.g. Emma: a Victorian Romance Blu-rays, or Kaiba, or some other titles for around 80% off, now's your chance. In other anime-buying newsMediaOCD's store has started adding titles from Viz. That's both good news if you were one of the folks who was worried about your ability to pick up 86 after it briefly disappeared from Crunchyroll as well as yet another sign of them gradually becoming something like the next RightStuf.
And, uh...it turns out we're sampling anime by a dead guy this Saturday. Yuji Yanase died a couple weeks ago; he directed one of this Saturday's samplers (The World's Strongest Rearguard) as well as another show we sampled on Saturday just a few weeks earlier (The Insipid Prince's Furtive Grab for the Throne).
