Pasadena Cartoon and Anime Society

General Information

We're a mostly-anime club that usually meets in the Pasadena area Friday and Saturday evenings. Currently we're doing hybrid showings, both in-person for fully COVID-vaccinated folks at members' homes, and online via our Discord server. Our showings usually run 6:30 - 10:30 Pacific Time.

Spring 2025, week 1

We built our schedule. Folks who participated in schedule-building last Saturday night may notice I swapped Sakamoto Days from the 1st half of the season on Saturdays to the back half. That's because I found out the 2nd seasons goes live in July, so we might as well set ourselves up to consider watching both seasons back-to-back.

There are a couple animated movies in theaters now.

Anime Expo Cinema Nights (AXCN) has Vampire Hunter D in limited theatrical screenings for its 40th anniversary. It's screening on Sunday 4/13 - looks like 4 PM for AMC theaters, 7:30 PM for Regal. The Sunday screenings are subtitled (there were 2 other days of screenings earlier in the week, one of which was dubbed). There are also screenings only at the Alamo Drafthouse in Downtown Los Angeles on 4/11 and 4/16.
Princess Mononoke has screenings in theater (albeit no longer in IMAX) based on a 4K remaster through Wednesday 4/16
The Looney Tunes movie The Day the Earth Blew Up also has screenings running through Thursday 4/16.

Comics Factory's last day of business is Wednesday April 23; their clearance sale is ongoing.
