Pasadena Cartoon and Anime Society

We're a mostly-anime club that usually meets in the Pasadena area Friday and Saturday evenings. Currently we're doing hybrid showings, both in-person for fully COVID-vaccinated folks at members' homes, and online via our Discord server. Our showings usually run 6:30 - 10:30 Pacific Time.

Events this weekend:

• The Animation Is Film Festival is running today (Friday, 10/17) through Sunday, October 19 at the TCL 6 Chinese Theaters in Hollywood - that last part is the biggest drawback for those who know what it's like to drive in Hollywood, but at least it's near a Metro station. I'm thinking of going to see ChaO on Saturday at noon. Tickets appear to be around $22 for features, $14 for shorts, and some talks with creators are free - you just need to RSVP.
• GKids is bringing Spirited Away back to theaters October 18-22.
• Crunchyroll is bringing the movie Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid: A lonely dragon wants to be loved to theaters for a one-night showing on Monday, October 20. Much like Fathom Events, this appears to have a single showtime at every location: 7 PM.
• Crunchyroll is also holding a one-night advance screening of Chainsaw Man - the Movie: Reze Arc for subscribers on Wednesday, October 22. The movie's wide release opens the following day on Thursday, October 23 and is currently scheduled to run through October 30. We might see about coordinating a trip to this next weekend.
• GKids has a 4K restoration of Satoshi Kon's first film Perfect Blue playing in theaters through October 16 23. Yes, that's a 2 whole extra weeks.
• Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle is still in theaters through at least Thursday, October 23 - that will be its 6th week in US theaters. It finally dropped out of the top-5 grossing movies in the last week, but it isn't far below and may hang on for a bit longer...
