We're a mostly-anime club that usually meets in the Pasadena area Friday and Saturday evenings. Currently we're doing hybrid showings, both in-person for fully COVID-vaccinated folks at members' homes, and online via our Discord server. Our showings usually run 6:30 - 10:30 Pacific Time.
Our Mastodon account
Guy is in town this weekend, though planning to attend only Saturday showings. Soon, it sounds like he'll be in town a much larger portion of the time. Because we're expecting him this Saturday I made sure our Saturday short feature - we're starting them this week, now that we've finished Slayers Try - is a standalone, on the assumption he hasn't watched the Princess Principal series as well as the first 2 episodes of its sequel OVA series Princess Principal: Crown Handler. We'll plan to watch Crown Handler 3 next Saturday.
Other schedule changes: we've cleared out some time on Friday nights, so we pick up a few episodes of Urusei Yatsura (the 2024 continuation of the 2022 remake) and To Be Hero X
Events this weekend:
-
Chainsaw Man - the Movie: Reze Arc is still in wide release through at least Thursday, December 11. I also saw something earlier today saying it'll be available in digital (Amazon, iTunes, etc.) December 9, so I cant imagine the theatrical run has much gas left.
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle (2025) is also still running in theaters through at least Thursday, December 11, though fewer and further away than Chainsaw Man.
-
Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution (2025) is still in its wide release through at least Thursday, December 11. This "movie" is a comilation of the previously-aired Shibuya Incident arc, followed by the first 2 episodes of the next season, scheduled to begin streaming in January.

Some of the holiday sales are still going, and a couple have even started since last week:
-
UK anime licensor and retailer Anime Limited is early in their 12 Days of Christmas Sale, which involves a different set of flash deals each day, early bird pricing being brought back for some titles where it ended a couple months ago, some buy 1 get 1 free (yes, a 1:1 ratio rather than 2 or 3 to 1). They sometimes have shows licensed which aren't licensed at all in the US, or where their release is substantially less expensive as long as you're willing to deal with Region B Blu-rays (and the unknown risk of tarriffs, these days).
-
Anime Corner Store is offering 10% off in-stock items with code CYBER2025 through end of Monday, December 8 Eastern Time (8:59 PM Pacific Time).
-
The Viz Shop is offering 20% off sitewide with code CYBERWEEK, valid through the end of today (Friday, December 5). They have a pretty large selection of items for not just expected brands like Naruto, One Piece, DanDaDan, and Pokemon, but also for e.g. Urusei Yatsura and Doreamon. Separately,
there's also the Shonen Jump Store's Black Friday sale offering 25% off for all new Naruto and Bleach items through end of December 5 with code BLACKFRIDAY25OFF. There's some overlap in the series these stores stock merchandise for, but I don't think there's any overlap in any items being sold.
-
There's a Buy 2 Get 2 Free sale at Ukiyo-E Heroes (as seen in e.g. Anime Expo's Exhibit Hall). No expiration date is listed for the sale right now and it's already run a couple days past when I expected it to end, so I won't bother guessing how much longer it'll stay up.
-
Finally, Crunchyroll's store has a sale on select Aniplex items through end of December 9. These discounts aren't as good (around 10-35% off), but at least they're a little better than standard Aniplex prices. They also have a bunch of mystery boxes, some of them priced at hundreds of dollars - presumably they're clearing out a bunch of old junk inventory.
